The hubby and I have always loved going on adventures! We love to explore new places and just unplug! We decided that once we had Mason, that we weren’t going to let him slow us down! So Mason has been camping since he was 4 weeks old and went on his first trail hike when he was 6 months old! As soon as he could hold his head up enough to ride in the backpack, we were getting out there!
Recently we decided to go camping at the last minute to Melton Hill Dam Campground in Lenoir City, TN, and instead of pulling our camper for just one night, we threw the tent and sleeping bags in the back of the truck and went! This was Mason’s first time tent camping and he did great! I actually think he liked it better than in the camper!
He was such a big helper putting up the tent and “blowing up” the air mattress!
After we got all set up, there was a beautiful red sky above our campsite. Mason has grown used to me taking photos of him all the time, so he was happy to pose for me with the sunset in the background. Even Blake got in on the action!
We are so used to camping in a camper that we really forgot how much we love tent camping! Just look at that view!
We decided a while back that when you have a toddler running around the campsite when it is dark, you need some way to know where they are at! That’s where the glow sticks come in! Mason loves to wear them and it helps us keep up with where he is! Win-Win!
After Mason and I fell asleep in the tent, Blake went to the water and did some long-exposure shots of the moon above the water and the fog rolling in.
The next day we had to pack up and get on the road, but not before we went to the water and swam a bit! You can’t keep that kid out of the water!
After swimming and packing up, we went to the lookout over Melton Hill Dam. It was beautiful!
And Mason was having a blast just being a boy!
Showing me his big muscles too!
I am so glad we got back into tent camping and realized that it really isn’t that hard with a toddler! It’s actually quite fun! I know we’ll be doing it again in the near future!
